Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid increases the hydration into the cell and can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water. Hyaluronic acid actually occurs naturally in the body and its function is to regulate tissue repair, hold moisture and increase the skin’s suppleness as well as regulate immune responses and the growth of new cells. It also provides a layer of support between the collagen and elastin fibers.

Hyaluronic Acid helps the cells of the skin to retain moisture and provides volume. As we age there is a decrease in Hyaluronic Acid and the skin becomes thinner and less supple. When Hyaluronic Acid is applied to the skin it increases the cells ability to absorb and retain moisture and gives the skin a more plumped up look.

Injectible fillers are mostly comprised of Hyaluronic Acid due to its ability to provide fullness and volume to the skin.
